Stirling-PDF (Java) — #1 PDF Application on GitHub that lets you edit PDFs on any device anywhere
Your team edits PDFs containing client or financial data and should not be uploading them to free web tools.
Media & Files · Self-Hosted
Every PDF operation you would otherwise paste a confidential document into a random website to perform: merge, split, rotate, compress, OCR, sign, convert, redact. Runs as one Docker container on your own machine, so the file never leaves your network. That is the whole argument, and for anyone handling contracts, invoices or ID documents it is a strong one. Java, and the tradeoff shows: the container is heavy compared to a CLI tool, and the interface is functional rather than pleasant. Licence is MIT for the core with some enterprise features held back. For occasional one-off edits it is overkill; for a team that does this daily it pays for itself in avoided data exposure.
Your team edits PDFs containing client or financial data and should not be uploading them to free web tools.
You edit a PDF twice a year, or you cannot spare the memory a Java container wants.
